Ensuring the Stability of the "Vegetable Basket" - Strengthening the Production and Supply of Important Agricultural Products in China

编辑:2023-04-15 09:47:06

Autumn and winter seasons are the peak seasons for the consumption of "vegetable baskets" products. What is the current production situation of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and eggs in China? How will relevant departments ensure stable production and supply, and ensure that the people's "vegetable basket" can be carried steadily? The reporter recently conducted an interview on the above topic.

During the Little Snow Festival, in Gaotai Town, Qingshen County, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, farmers are rushing to sell Ehime's "Jelly Orange". In the near future, Ponkan and Rao Cha citrus will also be listed one after another.

Although the early drought had some impact, farmers cultivated 'jelly oranges' carefully, resulting in good quality, sweet taste, and good prices. Through cooperation with cooperatives and companies, farmers have significantly improved the preservation, sorting, and sales levels of oranges, "said Xu Jun, the mayor of Gaotai Town.

Ensuring the supply of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, and eggs is crucial for the dining tables of thousands of households and the harvest of farmers.

Tang Ke, Director of the Market and Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced that the current production situation of "vegetable basket" products in China is good, with sufficient supply and stable market, which can meet the consumption needs of urban and rural residents.

Among them, vegetable production has steadily increased and prices have decreased seasonally. The main vegetable varieties in the country are growing normally, with an increase in area and yield. In early November, the vegetable area in the field was 90.799 million mu, an increase of 1.631 million mu year-on-year. In the 46th week (November 14th to November 20th), the weekly average price of 28 key vegetables monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was 4.21 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 3.2% month on month.

Fruit production is at a high level and prices are basically stable. Fruit prices have been declining for 5 consecutive months in the early stages, but have recently experienced seasonal increases. In the 46th week, the weekly average price of six key monitored fruits was 6.72 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 1.1% month on month.

The production capacity of live pigs is at a reasonable level, and pork prices have stabilized and fallen back. The number of newborn piglets from May to July this year is basically the same as the same period last year, indicating that the number of pigs born from November to next year's Spring Festival is roughly the same as the same period last year. In the 46th week, the weekly average price of pork in the wholesale market was 33.47 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 2.3% month on month.

The production situation of beef, sheep, poultry meat, and eggs is good, and prices are basically stable. In the first three quarters, the production of beef, lamb, poultry, and eggs in China increased year-on-year. Recently, the chicken farms in the main production areas have continued to supplement their livestock, and the overall supply situation of eggs and chicken has been improving. In addition, the production of aquatic products increased, prices remained stable, and remained unchanged year-on-year.

Further tightening and compacting the "vegetable basket" mayoral responsibility system, ensuring the production and supply of key agricultural products in winter and spring, is of great significance for economic and social development.

At present, various regions continue to increase their efforts in organizing and transporting goods to relevant regions, optimize terminal distribution measures, and make every effort to ensure the supply of daily necessities. Some e-commerce platforms take multiple measures to assist in production and sales docking. The Pinduoduo platform adopts methods such as zero commission for agricultural products and traffic support to expand the market and find sales channels for agricultural products. It opens up green logistics channels for "Duoduo Buying Vegetables" and supports fresh fruits to leave the village and enter the city in a timely manner.

Tang Ke stated that the next step will be to take three measures to ensure the "vegetable basket":

——Strengthen production and supply in winter and spring. We will focus on the construction of vegetable transportation bases from the south to the north and the production of vegetables in northern facilities, and improve the production and supply capacity of vegetables in the surrounding areas of large and medium-sized cities. We will focus on the production of key products such as meat, eggs, milk, and aquatic products, solidly promote the prevention and control of major animal diseases, and reasonably guide their release from the market.

——Smooth production circulation. Strictly implement the green channel policy for the transportation of fresh agricultural products, and unblock the transportation channels for agricultural means of production, "vegetable basket" products, young birds and livestock. Establish an emergency mechanism for production and sales coordination, and promptly organize industry associations and e-commerce platforms to ensure production and sales coordination in key regions and varieties.

——Responsibility for compaction and compaction. Issuance of detailed rules for the assessment and implementation of the "vegetable basket" mayoral responsibility system. Urge all regions to strengthen product transportation, reserve durable vegetables, fruits, frozen meat, and aquatic products, and increase investment efforts in a timely manner.
